#35 – Frog series continues…

harmonized love songs

easy on the ears at night

bullfrogs pitching woo

I originally posted this solely on twitter but now I realize it is in a similar line to other frog haiku that I wrote – evidently I am thinking a lot about frogs and pitching woo 🙂

#29 – 2 more famous haiku poems

from the book “Seeds from a Birch  Tree” by Clark Strand:

Swim Beach at low tide

a fragment of blue sea glass

with the rocks & shells

~Susan Rudnick

( I love this one because I scour the beaches for sea glass and blue is very rare- I love how this captures the unsentimentality of haiku)

scattered in the shrubs

unceremoniously –

the poison ivy

-Dennis Davidson

I hope you enjoy these on your Friday, or Saturday or any day really  –

#22 ~2 famous haiku poems

A friend of mine has let me borrow a book of haiku that seems wonderful, “Seeds from a Birch Tree” by Clark Strand – I can’t wait to dive into it further.  In doing a quick scan I found an old favorite and a new one to love – I thought I would share them and hope you are enjoying a beautiful spring day, if not I hope these will brighten your spirits.

Chrysanthemums bloom

in a gap between the stones

of a stonecutter’s yard

~Matsuo Basho

Beginning of spring-

the perfect simplicity

of a yellow sky

~Issa

I hope you enjoy these two and thank you to my haiku friend for letting me borrow this book 😉
