Basho, Basho Man

Last night I was reading the book “Haiku Mind” by Patricia Donegan, a collection of 108 amazing and inspiring haiku poems. I came across the one below by the very famous and powerful, Basho, probably my favorite haiku poet.  It is astonishing to me that given the news of the past 24 hours about Bin Laden,  how much this haiku resonates as if it were written today, not in the 1600’s.

BASHO MATSUO (1644-1694)

Timeless and dare I say even better than the Village People.

Hello world!

Welcome!

I have so enjoyed writing haiku during the month of April, on my blog http://www.15homegreenhome.com that I have decided to start a new blog solely devoted to poetry – this will be purely for my pleasure.  I do not know if any of you in the blog world read haiku, but I have come to really appreciate the subtlety of the form and wish to explore it more.  I will probably be importing some of my environmental poems from my other blog over here and will also be sharing some of my favorites.  I am thinking of incorporating some form of charitable aspect to this blog and hope to share ideas about poetry, word choice and the like.  So check back often !

Thanks
